More Good News for Blix

Blix had another great checkup today.  The vet is very happy with how his leg and eye are healing.  He is doing so well, no further followups will be needed and he has no restrictions at this point.  He has gained 4 pounds in the last week too!  Only a few more pounds to go until he will be back to his ideal weight.

Blix may even get out to Meet and Greet in Hermitage for a couple of hours this weekend.  He is really excited about that!

GREYT Day for Blix!!!

Blix had a FANTASTIC checkup!!!  His leg looks so much better and will now be left unwrapped.  It looks SO GOOD compared to where it was two weeks ago.  The eye injury we were worried about looks great now too.  The vet said at this point some exercise will be good for him, so he will not longer be completely confined to an x-pen with several very short walks a day.  He'll be free to do SOME playing around the house and in the yard while supervised (within reason of course).

Blix has gained just over 2 pounds in 5 days!!!  Up until this point, he had been steadily losing weight, so this is HUGE!!!  He still has a lot to gain, but his appetite is good I have no doubt he will continue to put weight back on.  Blix seems to finally truly be "turning the corner."  Thanks so much to everyone who has been sending good thoughts for this very special boy.

More updates will be coming soon, so be sure to check back!

Still Doing Well

I didn't post an update on Blix after his vet visit yesterday because there wasn't much to update, but after so many e-mails checking on him, I thought I should.

The checkup went well.  I wasn't able to see his leg between bandages changes, but I am told the healing is going okay.  Blix acts like he feels GREAT!  He'd run crazy around the yard if he could, he wants to play in the house, and his tail is wagging nonstop.  There is a world of difference between where this boy was a week ago and where he is now.  His weight is still much lower than it should be and we are working on that.  I'll post another update soon with pictures.  The next vet check is Friday.

Blix sends kisses to all his fans!

Good Day

Blix has had a great day today!  He is putting full weight on his injured leg and really seems to be feeling like his old self.  His appetite is HUGE, so I think he'll put weight back on in no time.

We got new memory foam dog beds today and they are a big hit with Blix!  This is how he spent most of his afternoon.

While I know Blix to be a fun, playful boy, he seems to know he's supposed to be taking it easy.  He has been a very good patient.  He knows that "easy" means to settle down and he will go lie on a dog bed when I ask him too.

Blix has a checkup with the vet scheduled for Monday.  I'll post an update soon after.

Blix was released from the animal hospital today.  I've been told he was the perfect patient and everyone there just fell in love with him.  That doesn't surprise me one bit!  He is a hound you just can't help but fall in love with.  He has the most amazing spirit.

Blix still has a lot of healing to do and a lot of weight to gain, so he will be followed closely over weeks to come.  I plan on posting updates here on his progress regularly, so stop back by if you'd like to follow up on how he's doing.

Good News for Blix!

I got to visit with Blix for about 45 minutes this morning.  He definitely seems to be improved today.  His tail was wagging and he had that spark back in his eyes.  I'm told he is now eating well too.  The vet is pleased with his progress.  If he keeps this up, he will probably be discharged to go home on Friday.

Keep up the good work, sweet boy.  You have lots of people who love you wishing you a complete and speedy recovery!

Blix Update

Blix was adopted at the beginning of this month and was in a home for a few days.  We were told by the family he had perfect house manners while with them and he was a really good boy.  He jumped the fence in that home and has been surrendered back to GPA-N because the family felt considering that they would not be able to keep him safe.

Blix did suffer injuries from that and he is now being treated in an animal hospital.  Once he recovers and is ready to be adopted, he will need to go to a home with a tall fence or a home where he will be leash walked.

I will be posting updates on this sweet boy's progress, so please check back soon.
