Good Day

Blix has had a great day today!  He is putting full weight on his injured leg and really seems to be feeling like his old self.  His appetite is HUGE, so I think he'll put weight back on in no time.

We got new memory foam dog beds today and they are a big hit with Blix!  This is how he spent most of his afternoon.

While I know Blix to be a fun, playful boy, he seems to know he's supposed to be taking it easy.  He has been a very good patient.  He knows that "easy" means to settle down and he will go lie on a dog bed when I ask him too. 

Blix has a checkup with the vet scheduled for Monday.  I'll post an update soon after.

Blix was released from the animal hospital today.  I've been told he was the perfect patient and everyone there just fell in love with him.  That doesn't surprise me one bit!  He is a hound you just can't help but fall in love with.  He has the most amazing spirit. 

Blix still has a lot of healing to do and a lot of weight to gain, so he will be followed closely over weeks to come.  I plan on posting updates here on his progress regularly, so stop back by if you'd like to follow up on how he's doing. 

Good News for Blix!

I got to visit with Blix for about 45 minutes this morning.  He definitely seems to be improved today.  His tail was wagging and he had that spark back in his eyes.  I'm told he is now eating well too.  The vet is pleased with his progress.  If he keeps this up, he will probably be discharged to go home on Friday. 

Keep up the good work, sweet boy.  You have lots of people who love you wishing you a complete and speedy recovery!

Blix Update

Blix was adopted at the beginning of this month and was in a home for a few days.  We were told by the family he had perfect house manners while with them and he was a really good boy.  He jumped the fence in that home and has been surrendered back to GPA-N because the family felt considering that they would not be able to keep him safe.

Blix did suffer injuries from that and he is now being treated in an animal hospital.  Once he recovers and is ready to be adopted, he will need to go to a home with a tall fence or a home where he will be leash walked.

Blix is doing GREYT!

Blix wanted me to post to let everyone know he is still searching for a forever family.  He is doing so well in his foster home.  He is a happy, playful hound.  He almost seems more like a 2-year-old than a 5-year-old.  He loves the sunshine and enjoyed a nice walk around the neighborhood today.  Blix is SO handsome and his coat just shines!  He always gets lots of attention from everyone we see.  Cars slow down, or even stop, to check out this boy:-).

Blix won't be meeting and greeting this coming weekend, but he will be making an appearance at the Hermitage Petsmart the following weekend, unless he is adopted before then.

Update on the Handsome Sweet Blix

Blix has been with us for almost three weeks and is acclimating to home life GREYT!  He is such a HAPPY boy!  He is eating well, does fine on solid-surface flooring, and gets along great with the resident hounds and my 5-year-old daughter.  He has pretty much mastered the stairs, but sometimes he gets excited and goes down too fast, so we have a baby gate there now so we can watch him and make sure he doesn't take any spills going down.  I do think he'll have that figured out soon.  He has not had a single accident in the house, but I do keep a close eye on him and for now I'm crating him when I'm too busy to supervise.  He is very affectionate and has a fun playful side to him.  He LOVES playing with stuffies and will often try to get my hounds to play along with him.  He is a little hesitant to go in his crate, but he will always willingly go in if you bribe him with a treat.  He LOVES car rides and getting out and about.  He is a really good meet and greeter; although, after an hour or two he seems a little overwhelmed and will stick close to my side and try to bury his head in my lap. 

He had a really good time at Meet and Greet today.  He met too many small dogs to count and after a sniff never even looked at them twice.  I'm going to get him out to meet some cats soon too see how he does with that.

This adorable little girl has been coming to a lot of Meet and Greets with her mom and they are hoping to maybe adopt a greyhound someday.  I think she was his favorite person of the day.  She is wonderful with the hounds and he loved her gentle attention.  

Blix would like to thank everyone who came out to Hermitage today to see him.  He will be at the Meet and Greet at 100 Oaks this coming Saturday, March 19, and would love to see you there!

But I think he likes to ham it up for the camera even more!  Every time I try to get a video of him playing, he runs up and starts smiling!
